For the most part, the bodies underneath the costumes are very articulated
All very similar, just different details on them. The main thing that hinders articulation is the clothing that surrounds the body.
For instance, the Batman Begins/Bruce Wayne set that was released last summer has great articulation for a rubber suit body
However, I would recommend against prolong poses, because there are chances where the suit will rip, and the same goes for the bodies that have a rubber covering (ie. Hellboy, Leonidas, etc)
So the bodies are poseable, but the costumes hinder the poses, like the TFA Captain America. His upper armor really hinder any upper shoulder movement.
As for the Iron Man figures, I can say that for the most part, they are pretty solid. IMO the original MK III release is the most solid figure for any IM figure. I say this because as the suit details have become more intricate (more removeable pieces) there is an increase chance for something breaking.
