Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion
From what I've seen of the first two Last Jedi Black Series waves, Hasbro reeeeally buggered up the eye paint on some of these figures - specifically:
Kylo Ren (haven't seen one Kylo Ren that didn't have eye paint issues, and I've seen a lot of Kylo Ren's on the shelves)
Jedi Training Rey (I've seen some that are fine but a lot that had bad paint apps)
Thrawn (some issues)
First Order Officer Disguise Finn (terrible paint apps on the eyes)
Poe Dameron (also bad paint apps on the eyes, but still better than the paint on his first figure in the flight suit)
Otherwise the other figures in the wave had very few issues that I've seen: Hera's eyes were very well done, as were Jedi Master Luke's, General Leia's, and Maz Kanata's.
And of course, the Elite Praetorian Guard lol.
Anyone else find this too?

Hasbro is using a new overlay technique on the faces for their movie based figures in the Legends and Black series lines, they call it "dot matrixing" or something? Apparently this is to give the heads a more realistic look...but if the overlay is applied crooked it really stands out. I have a Punisher from the Netflix series that unfortunately was ordered online where it was applied poorly and it looks SOOOO BAD, his eyes are where his eyelids should be and the eyebrows are way far up on the forehead. So I guess this new technique is going to require some practice at the factories. Ive seen some figures like the latest Gamora from Guardians that looks lights out though, so I guess its hit or miss.

Yeah with these two Last Jedi waves there appears to still be the regular painted-on eyes.
Hopefully this new technology gets better with subsequent waves - as Star Wars Black Series really needs to straighten this issue out lol.
