Re: Star Wars Bandai Kit Thread

Added some panel line details to the R2 kit finally. This was my test model, R2-KT. I used Tamiya Panel Line Accent (Gray). Need to run over it with some more lighter fluid to clean it up a bit but I think it turned out ok. I didn't want this model to be too dirty. R2-D2 will get a little more weathering. BB-8 didn't come to life until I added the panel detailing. I really like how he turned out. R5 I kept thinking real dirty. Gave him that junkyard look.

Re: Star Wars Bandai Kit Thread

Thanks again to MULTIPLEX for introducing these models to me! Phasma shipped a few weeks ago and I was able to finish the kit over the holiday.

Check out that shine!

She has officially replaced my BS Hasbro version.

Went ahead and switched capes as well

Re: Star Wars Bandai Kit Thread

I just ordered Phasma, Vader, BB-8/R2, Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper to round out my Bandai figure collection so far. Skipping the FO Trooper, but will probably pick up a Kylo Ren and maybe a Shadow Stormie later on.

If the ships were about 50% - 100% larger I'd seriously think about grabbing them too.

Re: Star Wars Bandai Kit Thread

Glad to see you two are enjoying these kits. That's a lot of building ahead of you, wedge. Look forward to seeing your finished models.

The Kylo kit is going to need some TLC but I'm certain it will be a great mold. The cape may have to be swapped out though. Although, I am thinking I want him to be hoodless and robeless, like in parts of the movie. Mafex and Habro have the robed versions covered well.

Surprisingly no new reveals yet. I hope we see a flame trooper cause the Hasbro version is not very well made.

Cheap no longer applies to these when you factor in the crummy exchange rate. CDJAPAN is one site I used. Also Playoma has these but never used them before. Amazon has the best price on some of the older kits right now.

I still found the ebay place I bought from the first time to have some of the best prices: http://ebay.to/1RL3Nvv

I bought my first 3 there, and then went back again to get this recent batch of 5 kits. The combined shipping is great if you're getting more than one kit (you have to request invoice when buying to find out the combined amount). My orders were $19 shipping for the first 3 and $28 for the group of 5. That's about 40% off the individual rates. He is quick to respond and shipping is fairly quick too, about 2 weeks from purchase until they showed up last time, and no duty. Will see how this latest shipment goes when it arrives.

Looking forward to it - I still haven't done the astro's or Fett yet. And 3PO is sitting at about 85%. He is just waiting for paint, which my local store just started stocking Tamiya's today so gonna head over there on Friday and get these things going again. I'll have to read thru your reviews to get the colour palettes.
