McFarlane Toys Spawn Remastered Hits Kickstarter This Week
At Toy Fair 2020, McFarlane Toys announced plans for a Spawn Remastered action figure. The figure would take the classic comic book Spawn figure, and update it with a modern sculpt and more. The plan is to crowdfund the figure to gauge interest. While we don’t know what other upgrades they have in mind, we do know it won’t be long before those details are revealed. Todd McFarlane announced that the Original Spawn Figure*Remastered will hit Kickstarter on Wednesday, April 8th. We will update when that campaign is live.

Ugh, doing a kickstarter is so lame.

If you are a new company that doesn't have the money I get it, but he has a very successful company.
Very nice guy though.

I hope the kickstarter route doesn’t mean the figure will not see a mass retail or e-tailer release, cause that will surely be lame

Re: McFarlane Toys Spawn Remastered Hits Kickstarter This Week
I feel like the whole point for why he's doing a crowdfunded set of figures is because retailers didn't want them. McFarlane doesn't tend to sell to just hobby stores or online retailers afaik, so his alternative it crowdfunding to bring the products directly to the consumer, if the demand is there. I'm pretty sure he's said something akin to that before.

The fact that the MK 11 spawn has hit like wildfire should be proof enough.

Re: McFarlane Toys Spawn Remastered Hits Kickstarter This Week
Hindsight being 20/20 sure, and maybe that will indeed let retailers know that Spawn could work in their stores, but the last Spawn at retail, the colour tops one, didn't exactly set the world ablaze, so it makes sense that retailers would be cautious of a property with very little in the way of mainstream content in a long time (MK11 being the first in a while), especially when the last Spawn figure didn't do great. Not to mention the line isn't just Spawn, it's one Spawn and 4 "nobodies" (to retailers, anyways).
Also I can't recall any confirmation one way or another for whether these were for statue-like figures (like modern remakes of those old figures), which was my impression of what these would be (like his own little artistic side project, free of articulation) or if they were actually going to do the whole "22 moving parts" with them.

Re: McFarlane Toys Spawn Remastered Hits Kickstarter This Week
In the toy fair interviews he mentioned that retailers doesnt like "one of" he called it. It is not meant to be a full line of toys, its a test he does to sell a very niche item in a "direct to consumer" way.

I thought that these were going to be updated, articulated figures from the first line, but if they are just glorified statues he shouldn't even bother.
It's sooo frustrating that he missed the mark on the Commando Spawn figure.
