Is there a legitimate reason why Sgt. Slaughter is $50, while other standard Classified Series figures are $35.

They have to price-match the Valaverse figure! You wouldn't want your Slaughter to be known as "the cheap one"!

As long as it's a one off and not the new price for all Classified, then I'm ok. I sold my Valaverse Slaughter once the Hasbro one was announced. Actually, with Gamestop discount, it was $44.99, the price I have to pay for the Cobra Island stuff at TRU.

Legitimate, I dunno. He does seem to come with more accessories than the basic figures. I think I'm gonna dig the little mini figure.
My best guess is that the licensing fee paid to Robert Remus has a part in it. He clearly owns rights to the likeness, maybe even the name, based on Valaverse being able to make one.

The slaughter figure was always floated as a deluxe for whatever reason. He and kamakura have been the most expensive in the line outside of TRU prices.
You get the mini fig and all the hands and all the other parts that go with him. But it’s not enough to justify.
I agree it’s almost guaranteed to be licensing fees for the character.
