Artificial scarcity makes toy collectors panic and buy at full price, no waiting for sales and clearances. Just make a product that you know the adults want, something nostalgic like classic Roadblock or Major Bludd, or G1 Sideswipe or Mirage, then make it an exclusive available in low numbers.

Once a toy collector misses out on 1 or 2 of these, they'll panic and never let a pre-order go by again. They're creating a sellers market.

This is the same bullshit you have to deal with if you're into sneakers. Good luck getting some AJ1s when they drop from Footlocker. May as well head over to StockX right off the bat and pay flipper prices.

Hasbro, like Nike, doesn't care. They're selling out every run and creating a demand and an air of "exclusivity".

It’s having the opposite effect though. People giving up, selling their Classified collections. I know a couple collectors who dd this already.
