From what $29.99 to $37.99?!? Yikes that's getting ridiculous. I assume at this point it's only adult collectors buying figures at this price point.

Well I guess that makes "sense" in that the new regular retail price is $32 or $33, and exclusives wind up being charged an extra $5 to $10 over regular retail.

I was thinking about getting Jaxxon, Kir Kanos (man, Hasbro's SW team is dumb...), and Maul... but at this pricepoint I think I'll just get Maul. If that.

When were exclusives or special releases $29.99 !?

Price is in line with the current increase

True. Before the increase, regular releases were $30 and a lot of specials/exclusives were $35 (though not always).
Now they are $33 and $38 respectively. Still sucks though.

Re: Star Wars Online/Pre Order Sightings Thread

Bo-Katan wave sells for $20 in the USA which is around $25 CAD. We're paying $8 CAD more. That's more than 25%. How does Hasbro Canada justify this huge price disparity? I think importers only pay 5% GST on toys and ocean cargo rates are the same because Hasbro ships from China to USA then trucks to Canada.

Prices are getting out of hand and Canadians are getting screwed again. There is no chance in hell I'm paying $38 CAD for these new figures.

But here's why I think prices went up:

Hasbro Canada would be foolish not to. Demand in Canada is so high. Since the start of the pandemic, demand for everything is through the roof and toys are no exception. In the Lower Mainland of BC, sought-after action figures last a few minutes on store shelves. Walmart cannot restock fast enough. Hasbro cannot deliver enough. China cannot make and ship enough to satisfy Canada's demands. The consumer goods market in most parts of Canada is on fire. Hasbro Canada is just charging what they can.

Re: Star Wars Online/Pre Order Sightings Thread

This is true. The sought-after toys don't last long on the shelves or online (see: many store-exclusives) although the stuff that Hasbro gets wrong will just stick there like molasses on the wall (see: the deluxe Mando Armorer for $50 and you get a few crappy accessories for the extra cost)

Supply and demand dictates what the stores can gouge for. If people pay it, just expect prices to keep rising.

Stores for the most part follow MSRP...I don't see how they're the "bad" guys here...

That's also a pretty simplistic view of things and doesn't take into account everything else involved.
