No, they're taking over production and distribution of the until-now-defunct DC Direct line. So they are reissuing some figures that were released just before DC Direct closed, and also putting out new stuff under that line.
I've picked up a few of these new and re-released figures and they seem to be identical (for the most part) to the previous releases. Maybe the paints are a bit different (they have that McFarlane look), but I believe the molds are the same as before.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's the exact same factory production, just under the direction of McFarlane, instead of DC. After all, the production of this stuff is all outsourced to independent factories overseas, and I'm assuming they don't care who pays for the production costs.
I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the stock in stores now was leftover from the last production run under DC Direct, with McFarlane just doing distribution.
