Three TRU stores around me in Toronto showed "in stock" for free store pickup but they keep cancelling on me. This has happened 3 times now over the span of 2 days (I tried ordering from each of the three stores). As of now, Dec 17th @9:45am, it's still showing as "in stock" so maybe phantom stock? Also, in each of the cancellations, no $5 TRU coupon. Actually, no real reason was provided for the cancellation either other than "issues that they are working hard to fix".

Happened to me with red hulk. Apparently it’s because they show store stock in their system before it arrives in store. (IE a shipment is on its way to the store). However stores don’t care. They wont wait for the stock to arrive. When the employee checks for it, if they doesn’t find it on the shelf... they will just cancel the order.

Ah ok, that makes sense. Any ideas if there will be more re-stocks? I'm new to collecting and looking to build out the 90s X-men team but don't want to spend an arm and leg if some of them are available at retail.

I’m never in a particular rush to get figures ASAP, they’ll get to me when they get to me, and otherwise it wasn’t meant to be.
I get how it can be annoying though if you’re highly anticipating a release.
