Okay, DC Fans, we have a social thread for Star Wars fans, now it's our turn to socialize and discuss the latest going-ons in the world of DC Comics!

And to start things off......

Well, last night marked the launch of the New 52. Anyone actually get the issue of Justice League last night? I didn't, but I am really looking forward to picking it up. I mean, Jim Lee and Geoff Johns? How awesome is that! :cool:

I love the cover for JLI #1, great to see Rocket Red in the background and don't even get me started on how stoked I am for the new Dark Knight title! While I was against the relaunch of the DC Universe, I do like the look and feel of these new comics.

Anyone else been catching these awesome Young Justice episodes? Man, this cartoon seems to get better and better every week! :D

Best episode lately was the one where they took on the Injustice League! Loved Brent Spiner as the Joker, he really gave the character an edge that was obviously inspired by Heath Legar's role in The Dark Knight!

No new episode this week though, according to Wiki's YJ episode guide.

Man, this weeks Young Justice episode was epic, very Independence Day-esque! Can't wait for next week's episode!

Also, FINALLY got some spare time to watch Batman: Year One and I loved it! Very gritty! It had a nice 80's feel to it and, I am telling ya, Ben McKenzie's Bruce Wayne / Batman sounded like a young Kevin Conroy to me!

Very cool flick! Did great justice to one of the best Batman stories ever wrote. Now, bring on Justice League: Doom!!! :D

Finally grabbed Justice League: Doom and I throughly enjoyed it! Lots of action and a great story to honor Dwayne McDuffie!

Only thing I found odd is that Michael Rosenbaum (Wally West Flash in Justice League & Justice League: Unlimited was chosen to voice Barry Allen. Whatever, love Barry Allen and Michael Rosenbaum, so no complaints here!

Another solid entry into the DC Animated Movie franchise! Really looking forward to Superman vs. The Elite now! :D

I picked up the hardcover of the Justice League new 52. Story was just okay, your typical invasions stuff, but I mainly picked it up for Jim Lee's art. I loved the full page artwork. Just beautiful to look at. I think I like his Wonder Woman the best

Edit: Also, I rewatched Justice League: Doom. While I still feel the animation is cheaper than previous outings, I enjoyed it more the second time around.

I read Final Crisis last year, but I forgot how amazing that whole arc was until I read The Return of Bruce Wayne, which was awesome, so I had to go back and re-read Final Crisis and it is, once again, blowing my freaking mind. Grant Morrison, will you marry me? haha.

Any other grand DC Universe graphic novels you guys would recommend? I've mainly just been following Morrison's work on Batman (the Batman and Robin stuff while Bruce was gone was awesome), as well as the work of Jim Lee. I'll buy anything that guy has drawn.

What I love about DC is the ridiculously huge scope of the story lines. Universe is an understatement.

I would recommend the three big Flash stories to follow Final Crises, namely Rebirth, The Dastardly Death of the Rogues and Flashpoint, which will take you right into the New 52! The art and stories for these books are awesome and it's great to have Barry Allen back once again! Seriously, these have to be 3 of my favorite pre-New 52 books, I highly recommend them! :cool:

!!!!POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!!:

I loved the whole Court of Owls arc. It's been a while since I've liked any Batman story arc that wasn't written by Grant Morrison. At any rate, I am sort of disappointed it came down to basically a fight between Batman and his supposed brother. I was hoping for a more grand finale than just more stuff blowing up.

I know the court will be there for many more stories to come; yet another in a long line of rogues for Batman to battle, but I was looking forward to him confronting some of the leaders, only to find a bunch of them dead. Figures.

Ah well, it was tons of fun.

Thought it would be cool to share this with you guys. It was the first time I ever got a sketch from a professional comic artist.

Awhile back, I attended a local comic convention called the Vancouver Comic Con and one of the artists from DC Comics was in attendance. His name is Moritat, the artist for All-Star Western. After a long chat and him signing about 6 issues of my All-Star Western comics, he did a unique Talon sketch for me. It was awesome to see the creative process and it was also nice of him to allow me to take a video of him doing the sketch.

Here was my sketch request:
"If you could draw a Talon from any period in history, which period would that be and what would the Talon look like?"

Just finished reading Superman: Last Son. That was pretty cool. It would have been cooler if it was longer. I liked the art, and I liked the double page spreads. Reminded me of the awesome spreads in the New Krypton series of books.

In the middle of Superman: Birthright. About halfway through and it is awesome. One of the best Superman scenes ever is in this book, where he turns a gun salesman's weapon against him. Amazing.

Man, I know Birthright was removed as canon for Superman's origins after Infinite Crisis, but holy cow, it was amazing. It just got better and better the more I read.

As a kid I was always drawn to the Alien side of Superman, how he is essentially an outcast. I'm glad that was touched on in Birthright, and I hope that is something they really develop in the Man of Steel movie coming out next year. I really think it would give the new film a depth to Superman that isn't present in previous film versions. Get away from the romantic aspect of the Donner films, and focus on a man trying to live up to his fullest potential. Something I'm sure everyone struggles with at one point or another. That could really make people connect to Superman, which the traditional Big Blue Boyscout image doesn't these days. Man, I really hope MOS is amazing. My hopes for that film are astronomical. I'm probably ruining it for myself with my ridiculous expectations, haha. Then again, TDKR lived up to my expectations and surpassed them...
