Venom and Carnage have cell shading. And so do all the X-Men animated figures. That's the whole gimmick with the cartoon figures. Personally, I could do without it, but it seems rather inconsistent.

The X-Men VHS figures have had cell shading, nothing says that rule has to apply to the Spider-Man VHS figures. Venom was not a VHS figure. Carnage was a VHS figure but did not have cell shading. The only Spider-Man VHS to have cell shading so far was Symbiote Spider-Man. And I think it fits that figure based on the design of the character from the show. I am also happy the rest of the figures don't have cell shading. Hasbro has shown pretty handedly that they generally suck at making it look good and if they are now focusing on the look of the characters from the cartoons (how I've always wanted the figures to look) then I would prefer they keep random unnecessary cell shading away from them. If they were able to do actually good cell shading that would be different... but I don't see them pulling it off without a significant price increase.

That's just what his body looks like. Show me one part of the black pattern that gets interrupted by a shadow or highlight.... cause I'm not seeing it.

His arms and legs. He benefits from having a black and red color scheme, and it could be argued that's just symbiote stuff, but it's definitely cell shading.

I disagree... I think the strongest argument would be maybe his chest. But even if you want to call that cell shading... I think it looks enough like the character and wouldn't be noticeably different to his non cell shaded version that it would stick out in a collection of non cell shaded figures. And thus even if you want to call it cell shading, it's still appropriately used in his case. Which, again, I'm fine with cell shading if its used appropriately like with Symbiote Spider-Man (and I guess Carnage if you really want to count him)... also Venom (even though he wasnt a VHS figure). With Symbiote Spider-Man and Venom the blue and red highlights on the character were a very notable aspect of the character design and so I think its fair the toy include that. But other characters didn't have that so it should be excluded.

Glad it doesn't. I don't care for any of the cel shading figures.
